There are times when sport takes a complete back seat – like right now. After Kranjska Gora was cancelled, it was clear to us athletes that the season was over. I went home and did what many of you have probably done too:

It's been a difficult season so far, let's not kid ourselves. Sometimes things just work and you don't know why, and sometimes it's the other way round. I've trained hard and worked a lot, and yet I'm not where I want to be.

January 2020 is packed. Now it's one race after another, with many of my favourite courses coming up: Madonna, Adelboden, Wengen and of course the highlights Kitzbühel and Schladming. While I'm chasing points in January and trying to score podiums and wins, you can win too – lots of cool prizes, for example from my head sponsor "Spar Natur Pur", plus my cool Michi Matt fan beanies, and the main prize is a pair of skis from my outfitter Rossignol.

The first race is done: 11th place and a second behind – you can't be happy with that. I didn't feel comfortable at all on the snow in Levi. In training the slope was still nice and hard, but in the race it softened up.
